One of the most important private universities in Spain, the UCAM Catholic University of Murcia, has chosen Soroll Electrònic for the installation of an interpreting lab where they will teach students of the degree of Translation and Interpreting. The installation was completed in September 2021.
The UCAM laboratory has a capacity for 40 students and is equipped with:
- A teacher’s station with a desk, a participation unit and Labtra® Digital teaching management computer.
- Nine booths for eighteen student interpreters with Bosch desk and Labtra® Digital software, one of which is adapted for people with reduced mobility.
- A discussion system for two student speakers with delegate units.
- An infrared language distribution system for 22 listening students.
What is Labtra® Digital?
The installed solution consists of the integration of a Bosch DICENTIS conference and simultaneous interpreting system with Labtra® Digital software.
The design of Labtra® Digital is based on state-of-the-art multimedia technologies. This allows Bosch’s revolutionary IP OMNEO platform to be integrated intuitively and seamlessly with all the teaching tools needed in translation and interpreting classrooms. In this way, interpreting students can practice with the same equipment they will later use in their profession.
Labtra® Digital is a state-of-the-art teaching tool designed by and for future interpreters, developed by Soroll Electrònic and implemented in numerous Spanish universities, including: Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (in Móstoles and Aranjuez) and Universidad de Alcalá.
