Project details
Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) — one of the leading private universities in Spain — has chosen our company, Soroll Electrònic, in order to set up a language translation and interpretation laboratory with the latest technology in the market. Students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpretation will learn and practise in this laboratory.
UCAM’s laboratory can hold up to 40 students, and it has been equipped with:
- A full professor’s workstation with an interpreter desk, a participation unit and a Labtra® Digital teaching management computer.
- 9 booths for 18 interpreting students with a Bosch desk and the Labtra® Digital software each. One of the booths is suitable for persons with reduced mobility.
- A debate system for 2 speaking students with their respective delegate units.
- An infrared language distribution system for 22 listening students.
The installed solution consists in the integration of a Bosch Dicentis conference and simultaneous interpretation system with the Labtra® Digital software.
The design of Labtra® Digital is based on innovative multimedia technologies. This allows Bosch’s reputable and revolutionary platform IP OMNEO to be integrated intuitively and transparently with all the necessary teaching tools for translation and interpretation lectures. Owing to this seamless integration, interpretation students can practise with the same equipment they will be using later in their jobs.
Labtra® Digital is a last-generation teaching tool that is designed by and for interpreters. It is developed by Soroll Electrònic and implemented in many Spanish universities such as Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (in Móstoles and Aranjuez) or Universidad de Alcalá.
